Electricity and Water
MCRL is on the priority line of the electricity supply to the University through the national grid and the University also has electricity generators that provide electricity when there is no supply from the national grid. In addition, the laboratory has its own exclusive 150KVA electricity generator as well as two units of 6.5KVA and 10KVA solar power units. Individual items of equipment are connected to uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units as well as surge protective devices.
MCRL is connected to the University water supply network and has overhead water storage facility that ensures that water pressure is adequate. The laboratory also has its own dedicated borehole. These measures ensure water runs all the time with sufficient pressure. Adequate distilled water is provided by water distillation units, and a Millipore Water Purification System provides HPLC quality water.
